The Three Pilgrimages Rev. Marti Keller (Don Sabo facilitator)
From the Jewish roots of our living tradition (and other world religions) we get the notion of and practice of regular pilgrimages, one of which almost immediately follows the High Holy Days of Jewish New Years and the Day of Awe (which take place this week). We will explore the tradition of pilgrimage, a journey or search of moral or spiritual significance. Typically it is a visit to a shrine or other location of importance to a person’s beliefs and faith. It might be a trip to the Holy Land, to Greece, to Mecca–or in the case of photographer Annie Liebowitz, Concord Massachusetts, Graceland in Memphis, and the Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. Or simply staying still.
