Justice Ministries Overview

Our Work in the World

Based on a deep love of humanity and the earth, our Unitarian Universalist faith calls us to act for justice, equity and compassion. Through our many justice programs and activities, Emerson works to raise awareness and to advocate for and partner with people in our community who face injustice. We strive to understand systems of oppression and work to make changes at the societal level. We invite you to engage in this work with us.

Check out our Emerson Acts for Justice and Radical Inclusion! room. There you will find information about our justice partners in the community, our justice activities, and ways to get involved. Take time to read a book from our justice library and attend one of our justice related faith exploration classes or join our social justice or Green Sanctuary teams!

Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and Unitarian Universalist Association

While our justice work at Emerson is rooted in Cobb County and Georgia, the Unitarian Universalist Association and the UU Service Committee’s work in social and environmental justice and human rights helps ground us in how our faith principles can act against oppressive systems.  In addition, they offer a model of how we can engage in accountable partnerships with communities most impacted by these systems.  Please visit the UUA and UUSC web sites for more information about our faith’s commitment to social justice.
