Listening Circles

At Emerson we value each person’s free search for truth and meaning and we commit to supporting one another in our spiritual growth. Our Listening Circles provide an opportunity to share our thoughts, feelings and experiences related to various spiritual, ethical and life-affirming topics. In these safe and respectful circles we to come to know others as we practice the art of deep listening with an open heart.

Listening Circles are small groups that meet once a month. Circles have up to ten members who commit to meeting as a group for at least one year. Each group has a trained facilitator and meets under an explicit covenant to maintain confidentiality and mutual support.

Each month, members have the opportunity to share what's happening in their lives and then discuss a topic introduced by the facilitator. Over time, circle members come to know each other intimately and share more deeply.

Many of us have found Listening Circles transformative, bringing us closer to other people, and helping us to better know ourselves. The circles are open to everyone.
